Community Therapy
Community therapy is an extension of ABA services that takes learning beyond the home and into real-world environments—such as grocery stores, parks, libraries, schools, or any setting that is meaningful to the individual and their family. Supervised by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and implemented by trained behavior technicians, these sessions are designed to help clients generalize the skills they’ve learned at home and apply them confidently in everyday situations.
This approach focuses on functional goals like waiting in line, making purchases, engaging with peers, following safety rules, and navigating transitions. Community-based sessions are especially helpful for building independence, promoting inclusion, and preparing individuals for school, extracurricular activities, or social outings. These experiences also provide valuable opportunities for caregivers to observe, ask questions, and receive in-the-moment coaching on how to support their child in public spaces.
By supporting clients where life actually happens, community therapy helps bridge the gap between structured learning and real-life success. It empowers individuals to participate more fully in their communities while fostering growth, confidence, and meaningful connections.
